Wyman, Richard

Page history last edited by abrandenburg@mvlc.org 7 years, 3 months ago

Born and raised in Swampscott (MA), Richard "Dick" Wyman (1922-2014) attended Governor Dummer Academy and Vesper George Art School in Boston. Dick married Virginia "Ginny" Bates in 1942 and served in World War II, then settled in Topsfield in 1952. While living in Topsfield, Dick and Ginny raised three children: Laurie, Amy and Stuart.  Dick worked at his family's Boston business, Wright and Potter Printing Co., and was a volunteer fire fighter.  During this time, Dick also continued to pursue his personal artistic endeavors, drawing and painting many private homes and public buildings in the area.  A full-color mural entitled "Old Topsfield" hangs in the lobby of the Topsfield Town Library, and additional drawings have been gifted to the library over the years.

Dick and Ginny retired to Florida in the early 70s, but continued to maintain strong ties to Topsfield.  In 2006, their daughter Laurie curated an art exhibit at the Topsfield Town Library, showcasing both her own and her father's artwork.
