United States Air Force 2nd Lieutenant Ernest W. Hagar, 370 Fighter Squadron, Bedford Airdrome, Bedford, Massachusetts, died May 14, 1943 in an aircraft accident that occurred on the Steward Estate, Perkins Row, Topsfield, Massachusetts.  Hagar was a native of Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas.

 

The Topsfield Fire Department responded to the crash site and to extinguish a grass fire.
