Meg BlackTopsfield resident Meg Black

has been a practicing artist working with handmade paper for over 30 years.  As one of a handful of painters working in this exciting medium, she has become something of a pioneer, internationally recognized by galleries and collectors.  Her focus on nature and the environment yields stunning landscapes, seascapes, and garden view.  Her paintings are acclaimed for their wonderful freshness and luminosity.

Meg received a doctorate in educational studies from Lesley College; a master's degree in studio art from the Massachusetts College of Art; and a bachelor's of fine arts degree from the State University of New York at Oswego.  She has had extensive teaching experience at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, including a term as a visiting instructor of artist books at the Studio Art Center International in Florence, Italy.

Meg has had several solo exhibitions in New York and New England.  Her work has been acquisitioned into numerous private and public collections, including Fidelity Investments, National and International, General Foods, Smith Barney Investments and Meditech Corporation while her artist books can be found in the collections of the Houghton library of Harvard University, the Rhode Island School of Design Print Library, the Boston Public Library and the Smith College Library.

Her four panel paper painting "River Road" was acquired for the newly renovated and expanded Topsfield Town Library through the courtesy of the Gould Fund. (Topsfield Town Library Trustees)
