Parson Capen House

Page history last edited by Roz Broch 1 year, 8 months ago

The "Parson" Capen house was built in 1683 for Reverend Joseph Capen, Minister of the Church in Topsfield.  The house  is one of the best preserved examples of early American houses built in the Elizabethan style.  The house became the property of the Topsfield Historical Society in 1913 and was restored under the direction of George Francis Dow.  Private tours are available upon request by emailing capenhouse@topsfieldhistory.org. Please give two weeks' notice before you would like to come. Volunteers are not usually available on short notice.
