Lincoln Special at Harrisburg Station

William Henry Harrison Gould was "conductor on the special train that was to carry President Lincoln's body from Baltimore to Harrisburg."   Mr. Gould recounts the experience in “The Funeral Train of President Lincoln: Reminiscences by Wm H.H. Gould" published in The Historical Collections of the Topsfield Historical Society, vol. XXII (1917).

William Henry Harrison Gould, born in Topsfield, Massachusetts on June 25, 1836,  is a descendant of Zaccheus Gould who arrived in the United States in 1639.  William married Sarah E. Stone of Maryland on August 21, 1862.  William's family tree is detailed in the book, The Family of Zaccheus Gould of Topsfield by Benjamin Apthorp Gould.  (Gould, p. 79)
