A stone located on the Topsfield Common is engraved with the names of the three Topsfield women executed during the Salem Witchcraft Hysteria of 1692. Residents Mary Esty, Elizabeth How, and Sarah Wildes were hung at Gallows Hill in Salem. In 2016, the exact site of the hangings was determined to be Proctor's Ledge at Gallows Hill.
